Rehoboth Beach Reviews - Salumerias / Delis / Gourmet Markets

nourish_lois-deb_cr_smNourish has recently moved from their original location in Henlopen Junction Shopping Center and set up shop in Bill Shields and Joe Maggio's real estate office/cafe spot on the second floor of First Street Station. Uber-chef Deberah Sutter and partner Lois Pellegrino are still cranking out their tasty (and often healthy) recipes.

Deberah is certainly qualified to Nourish pretty much anybody. Her chefography includes Martha Stewart, Bill and Hillary Clinton, U2 vocalist Bono, record producer/label mogul Clive Davis, Susan Sarandon, the Rockefeller family...the list goes on and on. And it's no wonder: The seasoned chef was wrestling her mom and grandmom for stove rights at the tender age of three and-a-half.

nourish_logoThe sandwich/carryout menu at Nourish includes the standard salad offerings and some pre-prepared dishes, all of them with a fresh, organic and/or chemical-free twist. Deberah is also proud of her selection of gourmet and artisinal cheeses, and is happy to treat you to a taste if it looks like you're actually going to buy some. The gourmet grocery has lots ofnourish_express_cr_sm unusual goodies (where else around here can you find canned mehshi warak inab?).

The place is friendly, upbeat, has a great stereo system, and smells good. Deberah and Lois' goal is to make Nourish a local "watering hole" for everything from a light nosh to fully prepared meals to-go. They're already gaining a stellar reputation for catering weddings, dinners in your home, business meetings, receptions, etc., so give 'em a call the next time you want to actually enjoy your own party.

In summer, 2011, Deberah and Lois opened another location, Nourish Express [pictured, right] in conjunction with Elite Physical Therapy on the boardwalk in the Stuart Kingston building. Lots of cool smoothies and healthy goodies (don't worry...they're not ALL healthy) you can just pick up right out on the boardwalk. The coffee is particularly good.

In fact, they are not at all shy about urging you to "live, relax, let us cook." Check their hours (especially off season) to make sure they're open (302) 227-6282 at their new digs, and (302) 727-5258 at Grenoble Place and the boardwalk. Click here for info about their catering services. (L., D) Price range: Depends on what you buy.

We love their chicken salad, and you're right...they really take their cheese seriously. It's so much brighter and friendly than the place that was there before.

Nourish is an excellent place to stop for a quick bite (or to pick up something to take home). The ladies who run the shop are very friendly and helpful. My cousin really enjoyed their egg salad sandwich, and I cannot say enough good things about their grilled cheese sandwich with gruyere, Midnight Moon goat cheese, and thin slices of apple. It was phenomenal! Whenever I stop in Nourish, I always feel like I'm in an eclectic European bistro.
