Rose__Crown_windowYes, the rumors are true. The always-seemed-to-be-in-the-weeds Beseme is history (truth be told, we're all probably better off for it). But more history is about to arrive at the Hotel Rodney in Lewes: The Rose & Crown's decidedly British pub grub and fun games will be resurrected in that little Market St. space that was the original home of the Buttery. It's no secret that it was tight in there, and Hotel Rodney owner Jim O'Hare is currently remodeling the lobby/restaurant area to give the place a little more breathing room.

The Rose & Crown (originally owned by Bob Mitchell of 1776 Steakhouse) closed in 2005 after garnering a loyal following over its 20-year run. Standard British fare plus a few Americanized dishes will be offered in the brand new space.

Opening is slated for mid-April, hopefully before Easter. We'll keep you posted, of course.
